Nail Polish: 8 Blues You Can Use!
We're finally branching out from OPI Russian Navy. Although that's still our JAM

Blue! It's the color after which the greatest Joni Mitchell album (and probably one of the top 10 best albums of all time) is named, the color of our favorite Jim Henson character — any sentient being (Cookie Monster was kind of sentient, right?) whose life's goal is to never stop eating cookies is aces in our book — and without a doubt, the color you'll be painting your nails this fall. Just accept this. Even Zac Efron was recently spotted wearing blue polish. (Is it sad that we know that? Sigh. Zac Efron. Pretty, pretty Zac Efron.) Blue is the new black, at least through end of Q4 '10. But just like there are several different Kardashians to keep up with, there are sooo many blue polishes to keep track of. And here are eight of our faves.
+ Borghese Mezzanotte Blue: An inky, exceptionally moody hue that's almost black at times, deceptively near purple when it wants to be. $7.99
+ Victoria's Secret Glamour Midnight: Deep, dark Duke blue. Internet dorks, this is #001A57. LOL. Plus, a charming jewel-shaped faceted bottle. $8. Available in October.
+ MAC Ming Blue: Electric, glittery cobalt, created by Jin Soon. Get into it. $12
+ MAC Blue India: Kinda cheating here since this one was from the MAC x Liberty of London limited edition, but this muted gray-ish glaucous (it's a word!) forever holds a place in our hearts. Beg, steal, borrow, ebay, or maim for it.
+ China Glaze Midnight Mission: Indigo, denim-esque blue with starry microglitter. And it goes on like a dream. Perfection. $3.50
+ China Glaze Bermuda Breakaway: Blues can get kinda bummy. That's why this China Glaze classic is a warm and friendly — not to mention silky smooth — really rich navy. Or ultramarine, if we're really splitting hairs. $3.45
+ Sonia Kashuk Space Cadet: You know Sergei Osipov's Cornflowers painting? Here's the dreamy, creamy, nail polish version of that. $4.99
+ Illamasqua Caress: A shade that falls squarely between robin's egg and powder blue. Could be a match for the much-ballyhooed baby blue polish seen at the Chanel St. Tropez cruise 2010-11 collection. $17.20
Still overwhelmed by the array of blue nail polish options available to you in a free market? Well, then there's always a fail-safe fire engine red!
