GIG PREVIEW - Les Savy Fav At Mercury Lounge
Plus Dirty Projectors play Saturday! Awesome!

It’s a raucous week in the city this week. First up, New York’s own Les Savy Fav are playing a hometown show at the Mercury Lounge on Wednesday (9th). The band recently had to rush release their new album Root For Ruin after a load of naughty internet users downloaded it on torrent sites. Not ones to take it lying down, they put the real version up alongside an online honesty box for the rippers to pay up, along with the message: "pay extra and you're also forgiven for sex sins and stuff, AND we'll tell Jesus to send you cookies." Expect business as usual: frenetic art rock, a side order of stand-up and one very sweaty bearded man overseeing proceedings.
Then at the weekend there’s two chances to see San Diego’s ramshackle garage punkers The Soft Pack, as they hit Bowery Ballroom on both Friday and Saturday. If you’ve not succumbed to their lo fi charms yet you’re missing out.
And somewhat more sedate but no less sublime will be indie collective Dirty Projectors supported by Final Fantasy man and erstwhile Arcade Fire collaborator Owen Pallett at Terminal 5 on Saturday. 25 bucks in advance so get your tickets now.
