NEW ARTIST – Magnetic Man

They use three Macbooks to create some supremely bass-heavy shiz

Who is he?
Not a ‘he’, actually a ‘they’ – the name refers to the dubstep triumvirate of Skream, Benga and Artwork.

What do they do?

Skream is best known as the single most important figure in the rise of South London’s dubstep phenomenon (and the man behind 2009’s best remix, the Let’s Get Ravey edit of La Roux’s In For The Kill), while Benga is his right-hand man and a bass-bothering legend in his own right. Artwork is the other key player. Together, they’re Magnetic Man and they’re here for your hearing.

Why should I care?

Because they’re pioneering the one true new genre for the new millennium. Because they use three Macbooks and a lifetime diet of beat-driven music (drum and bass, jungle, you name it) to create some supremely bass-heavy soundscapes that incite mass euphoria at cavernous clubs across the world. And because they’ve enlisted John Legend for a track called Getting Nowhere that’s one of the most infectious tunes we’ve heard all year.

How can I get involved?

Where do I head now?
