NEW ARTIST – Silver Columns

We finally unmask this secretive electro duo

Who are they?
An electro duo who kept their identity secret for many months but were finally unmasked as Adem Ilhan (of folktronic stars Fridge and solo artist fame) and singer songwriter Johnny Lynch (of Pictish Trail “fame”, although his celebrity credentials probably don’t run far enough to call him famous).

What do they do?
Lo-fi electronica and digital post rock with a sweet vocal melody. It’s kind of more foot tappy than fully danceable but infectious nonetheless. Think Hot Chip divided by two, or maybe Kraftwerk gone simultaneously sensitive and clubby. Filing next to James Yuill might be an idea too.

Why should I care?
Because these two have put in a fair few years in their respective electro/folk genres and know what they’re doing, and they’re crafting one of 2010’s few genuinely new sounds.

How can I get involved?
Their new single Always On is out via Moshi Moshi on September 13, backed with a fantastic Caribou remix.

Where do I head now?
Grab that Caribou mix over on RCRD LBL now and head to NME’s Daily Download blog for early single Brow Beaten. Check out the video for Cavalier on YouTube too.

Looky here, it’s the Always On Caribou remix for downloadery

And while you’re at it, help yourself to Brow Beaten
