Basta Surf Is Swimwear That Let's YOU Choose Where Your Tan Lines Will Be
You will dig wearing this in lieu of a bra

No one has clothing reveries about bathing suits. They don’t inspire sartorial fantasies of wearing them in situ and picturing how great they’ll look. That’s because a) you have to envision yourself half-naked and b) envisioning yourself half-naked is kinda weird, no matter how comfortable you are with your body.
But this past Sunday, we caught ourselves doing just that when we were taking in all the great fashion in the All Saints Pub at the Jelly NYC party in Brooklyn. As it was hot as a dickens outside, there were plenty of barely there, low-cut tanks on display, with black bras peeking out. And suddenly we were mind-styling (surfers have “mind-surfing,” fashion die-hards have this) the outfits to include some color. We were dreaming of injecting a beach feel, loving how girls look when they head straight from the waves and just keep their swim tops on in lieu of bras.
Enter Basta Surf, a line of suits that come in shades of bright poppy or cool plum, in addition to all the usual hues. The standout styles — the Spot X one-piece and the Raglan bikini — have contrasting string ties in electric seafoam green and bright salmon pink, with the perfect added element of gunmetal hardware at the ends. You can tie them in all sorts of design-y ways, which, true, might cause some odd tan lines, but will produce nothing but compliments when worn as an undergarment.
And for those who actually want to take these suits to the water: The nylon and spandex lining really holds you in and supports, while the seamless construction ensures that edges lie flat and don’t cut into any jiggly bits. Let the sartorial fantasies of Labor-Day-weekend-wear commence.
