Loving An Ear Cuff With A Shaved Head

This works will with an Alicia or an Aggy or even just an updo

We thought the whole Alice Dellal “shave one side of your head” look, while very cool, had passed. But, to our surprise, we spotted three girls rocking it in Williamsburg in a one-hour period last weekend. Which is awesome, as there’s only one thing we like more than an asymmetrical haircut: an asymmetrical ear adornment to go with it.

Which brings us to ear cuffs, a recent obsession. These are definitely not every girl’s jam, but for those who are open to them, some of our favorite jewelry designers are producing some pretty tempting options.

Lady Grey does a goth-lite version — its darkly elegant cage fixture could blend in with a high-art crowd or the gutter punks hanging out at St. Mark’s Place. RHODEUS holds things down on the romantic front, offering both a full and demi style that features ornately carved flowers that look as if they’re cascading down your lobe. And if you want to go all out, like one-step-away-from-Jane-Child-Don’t-Wanna-Fall-In-Love all out, try this one from Litter, which has multiple chains that hook behind your ear and wrap around to fasten with a simple stud (note: this one requires an actual piercing).

And in case there’s any confusion, you don’t actually have to buzz off half of your mane to wear these, it’s just an idea. You could also pin it up with bobby pins, or pull an Aggy and razor it all off.
