Aguahelada Is A Club In Colombia Where The Staff Wears Neon Jumpsuits
Our intrepid traveler checks out the nightlife in Barranquilla (all in the name of research, you understand)

If you haven't noticed already (ahem, NYC Jelly Pool Party), we like a good
party here at Naag — so keep sending us your Bat Mitzvah invitations, thanks.
We heard Colombia didn't disappoint in the nightlife department, and we love
our coffee, so we hopped on our private jet (JK) and headed to a city near the
Atlantic coast.
Barranquilla is pretty much a city travelers pass through from
Cartagena to Santa Marta (for the amazing beaches, of course!) but they stop
for a night to check out the home of the UNESCO-appointed, internationally
known carnival. Everyone's entitled to one fiesta night while en route, right?
We're totally all about off-the-beaten path attractions but the club Aguahelada
(translated "cold water") takes it to a whole other level. We want to take the
whole freakin' club and bring it back to New York City. Considering
Barranquilla is super-gritty, Aguahelada is the last thing you would expect in
this city.
We have no idea what drug the owner/designer was smoking, but this
place is crazy. Pop art adorns the walls in bold colors, the furniture is avant
garde in a Tim Burton kind of way, white things hang from the ceiling, there
are palm trees everywhere and the DJ who plays a fusion of funk and salsa
(it's Latin America, y'all!) sits in this weird, half-disco-ball-slash-globe
throne. Like, sick.
The crowd is super-artsy and hot and loves tourists. Did we
mention the staff wears these ridiculous neon jumpsuits and if you want "bottle
service," it's super-cheap (hello, $50 bottle of Johnny Walker! You're coming
back to the hotel with me). The best part? The club is inside a frickin' MALL!
W to the T to the F ! We officially see nightlife in a completely different
way.
